Introducing the Women in Tech desk: Tackling the tech industry’s gender gap

It’s not news that the tech space has a skills shortage problem, or that there’s a huge gender imbalance when it comes to professionals working in the IT industry.

That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of our new Women in Tech desk; a team of expert recruiters devoted exclusively to helping female tech talent land roles in the cloud industry.

Our Women in Tech team has been designed to help remedy the gender imbalance in the tech industry, and in the process, close the sector’s growing skills gap, by uncovering female tech talent and providing advice to businesses on diversity and inclusion best practices.

Drawing on over a decade of experience building relationships with tech talent pools, product vendors, and niche IT communities alike, the Women in Tech team will work to connect our clients with women working in every area of technology.

The desk’s specialist consultants will be aligned to specific niche technology products, and work with both active and passive candidates from graduates through to CIOs and CTOs, to make sure candidate shortlists represent the best talent available.

“At Frank Recruitment Group, we believe that support for women in tech should be implemented at every level, and at every stage; from grassroots education to board-level mentorship,” said Frank Recruitment Group President Zoë Morris. “Businesses that want to lead in this area, they must ensure that their recruiting pathways are open to talented female tech pros and Frank Recruitment Group is here to help.”

As well as sourcing and shining a light on underrepresented tech professionals, the Women in Tech team will also provide consulting and advice on candidate attraction strategies, equipping clients to create more inclusive environments where diverse talent can thrive. This will include developing bespoke post-placement care models to enhance clients’ onboarding processes and improve staff retention.

In addition, the team will offer access to a range of professional resources, create channels to market that build a more diverse pipeline, and, in the future, orchestrate exclusive events to bring clients and candidates together.

The new desk is the latest in our long history of investments in the future of the tech industry, having previously launched several return-to-work initiatives, and diversity and training programmes.

We also support a wide range of industry diversity initiatives, including being the official recruitment partner of the Women in IT Awards and Summit since 2017, a Women in Recruitment initiative partner, and signatories to both the Tech Talent Charter and Tech She Can Charter.
Comprised of skilled consultants experienced in placing top talent in tech and digital roles, the team will be led by veteran recruitment expert Paulina Laurie. Laurie joined us almost a decade ago and quickly progressed into a leadership position, building many successful teams along the way.

“Women make up just 17% of today’s tech workforce,” said Laurie, who is passionate about empowering women in business. “That statistic presents a vast opportunity, both for women who want to build a rewarding career in the industry and for organizations who need new talent to help them achieve their business goals.

“As leaders in the technology staffing space, we are uniquely positioned to tackle this issue, and support our clients in building and shaping a more inclusive workforce by championing outstanding female talent in technology.”
